Building the Counter-UAS & AI Deployment Ecosystem

Joint Interagency Task Force 401

The Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF 401), reporting to the Deputy Secretary of War, is the U.S. Department of War (DoW)'s lead organization for Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS). It aligns authorities and resources to rapidly deliver Joint C-sUAS capabilities for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Groups 1, 2, and 3, strengthening sovereignty over the national airspace.

JIATF 401 synchronizes C-sUAS efforts across the DoW and the interagency to support a whole-of-government approach, reducing duplication, accelerating capability development and delivery, and rapidly fielding joint capabilities at scale. Its mission supports the defense of the homeland, the protection of U.S. and allied forces, critical infrastructure, and the delivery of capabilities to America's warfighters.

As the small UAS threat continues to expand in scale and sophistication, JIATF 401 provides centralized leadership for Department-wide C-sUAS efforts. Its transformation priorities emphasize speed, affordability, mobility, accountability, rapid integration into operational formations, and a threat-adaptive approach. By streamlining coordination and expanding execution authorities, JIATF 401 rapidly delivers capabilities that outpace the evolving threat.

AeroGear Telemetry

AeroGear Telemetry is focused on providing telemetry & data acquisition solutions for the defense and aerospace sectors, with a strong emphasis on building long-term relationships with military branches and defense contractors.

Company Background: AeroGear Telemetry was founded in 2002 by Joel Weber, who leveraged his extensive sales experience in the defense industry to establish the company. Initially starting with a small team covering the southern United States, AeroGear has since expanded its operations and now employs 12 people, serving a broader geographic area.

Products and Services: AeroGear Telemetry specializes in representing data acquisition & telemetry products across various sectors, including flight testing, space, and munitions. The company collaborates with innovative partners like #OPTISYS, #Quasonix, #enDAQ, #AstroNova, #FISICA, as well as specialty vehicles & transit cases. These products are designed to meet the demanding requirements of military and aerospace applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Market Focus: Dynamic world events have led the company to realize the transition into applications supporting cUAS, hypervelocity munitions, autonomous vessels & aircrafts, as well as space-based assets of all types. The company primarily serves military branches such as the United States Air Force, Army, Space Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy, as well as key defense contractors. AeroGear's solutions are tailored to address the unique and complex needs of these clients, ensuring that they receive the best possible support for their operations. AeroGear Telemetry continues to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of the defense and aerospace sectors, focusing on delivering high-quality telemetry solutions and maintaining strong partnerships with military and industry leaders. Today’s needs are drifting toward smaller munitions positioned to fulfill the new mantra toward #costexchangeratio, along with the as equally hot #cUAS and #GoldenFleet lanes.

Teaming Interest: AeroGear organized a team that won Phase 1 & Phase 2 AFWERX STTR awards for the topic of weather sensor development. The focus was UAV/UAM operational capabilities at the vital elevation of 4,000 to 6,000 feet where ice, turbulence, and flight safety are of paramount concern to any viable UAV/UAM operational plan evolvement and implementation. We also supported a small aerostat company in the area of LTA deployment. Our interest is to continue working with small business groups to develop proposals that address autonomous platforms of all types, cUAS solutions & related core areas that allow the warfighter to complete their mission sets. We seek any technical organization that can prime an SBIR, STTR, or BAA. AeroGear’s contribution would be high PWIN components found on our website at AeroGear.us, as well as knowledge of program offices & mission requirements.
