This presentation explores how biomimicry and nature-inspired engineering can generate unconventional approaches to Counter-UAS challenges. Drawing inspiration from biological systems that excel at detection, pursuit, interception, maneuverability, and adaptation, Dr. Alain Bujold will demonstrate how studying nature can stimulate new concepts for counter-drone technologies, with a focus on the innovation methodology and how biological principles can inspire the next generation of Counter-UAS solutions.

Dr. Alain L. Bujold, DBA, PhD, is an executive, innovator, and professor at Monarch Business School Switzerland with more than 27 years of leadership across defense, security, technology, and innovation. He holds doctorates in Business Administration and Philosophy focused on innovation, as well as a Master’s in Business Research specializing in load carriage and human performance optimization.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bujold has led more than 140 R&D and new product development projects spanning advanced defense systems, human performance, protective equipment, and wearable technologies. His work includes the development of a passive load-bearing exoskeleton, CBRN gas mask, advanced helmet suspension system, personal thermoregulation system, and more than 40 protective equipment designs addressing ballistic, blunt-trauma, and edged-weapon threats.

Dr. Bujold combines biomimicry, observation, human-centered design, and pragmatic engineering to approach complex technical challenges from unconventional perspectives. His expertise spans human physiology, ergonomics, impact mitigation, advanced materials, prototyping, manufacturing, and technology commercialization.
